FAQ
Questions, answered.
Everything people ask before and after their first gallery.
Galleries
Do my clients need an account?
No. They open the link, enter the PIN if you set one, and view or download straight away. No signup, on any device.
How many photos can a gallery hold?
Your first gallery is free, up to 2GB, around 190 photos. A paid gallery holds 5GB (about 480 photos), 10GB (about 970) or 25GB (about 2,400), and the Studio Pass covers anything bigger. Videos count too: an MP4, MOV or M4V goes in the same gallery, plays above the photos, and uses the gallery's size like any photo. A gallery can move up a size later, so you are never stuck at a limit mid-shoot.
Are the photos watermarked or clean?
You choose per gallery. Show watermarked previews while clients make their picks, then switch to clean, full-resolution downloads when you are ready to deliver.
How long does a gallery stay online?
A paid gallery stays online for 6 months, and a free gallery for 30 days. Keep a free gallery online by paying for it, or extend a paid one by another 6 months from your dashboard. You will get a reminder as the date approaches.
Do you take a commission on my sales?
Never. Lensdrop is a delivery tool, not a storefront. We never touch your sales or your clients' money, so you keep 100% of what you charge.
Can I see if my client opened the gallery?
Yes. Every gallery has an Activity tab showing who opened it, when, how many people downloaded, and a world map of where it was viewed. Counts are real people, not page loads, and you get a quiet notification the first time a client opens.
Can clients download everything at once?
Yes. When downloads are on, clients grab the whole gallery as a single zip, or pick out individual photos. Originals, full resolution.
Can I upload straight from my camera?
Yes. Pro bodies from Sony, Canon, Nikon and Fujifilm with built-in Wi-Fi FTP can send JPEGs directly into a gallery as you shoot, no laptop needed.
Pricing
What if the gallery ends up bigger than I expected?
There is nothing to guess. Upload the whole shoot, up to 25GB, and the price is set from what you actually stored at the moment you share. Guessing the size up front was the old way, and it is gone.
What happens if I never share a gallery?
You pay nothing. A draft you have not shared is archived after 7 days, with reminders on day 3 and day 6. Archiving does not delete anything: your photos stay put for another 7 days and paying restores the gallery, so there are two weeks in all before a draft is cleared.
Do you take a commission on my sales?
Never. Lensdrop is a delivery tool, not a storefront. We never touch your clients' money, so you keep 100% of what you charge them.
Can I add storage or time to a gallery later?
Yes, both. Move a paid gallery up a size and pay only the difference between the two prices, so you never pay twice for storage you already bought. A free gallery moves up at the full price of the size it lands on, which comes to the same total either way. Extending keeps a paid gallery online for another 6 months, at the gallery's own price.
Is there a Lightroom plugin?
Not yet; a Publish Service for Lightroom Classic is planned. Today you export as usual and either drag the folder into the browser uploader or let the desktop app watch your export folder, so each photo uploads as Lightroom writes it. The Lightroom guide in the help center has the export settings that suit a gallery.
Which currency will I be charged in?
Photographers in India pay in rupees, with UPI or an Indian card, and the euro area pays in euros. Those price lists carry the same numbers as the dollar one ($6.99, ₹699, €6.99): not a discount and not a conversion. Everywhere else, prices are set in US dollars and shown and charged in your own currency at the day's rate, so the price on the page is what your card is charged.
Is tax included in these prices?
Yes. The price you see is the price you pay, in every country. In India that includes 18% GST, so a ₹699 gallery is charged as ₹699. Elsewhere it includes VAT where your country charges it, and a buyer in a country with no tax pays the same number. Your receipt itemises the tax, and Lensdrop's share is what is left after it.
Is there a subscription anywhere in this?
No. Every gallery price is a one-time charge for one gallery. The Studio Pass, for photographers who deliver often, is paid once for a month or a year and never renews on its own, so there is still nothing to cancel.
Do videos cost extra?
No. A video is stored and streamed exactly as you exported it, never re-encoded, so there is no per-minute charge and no video plan. It counts toward the gallery's size like a photo: a 4GB highlight film with 1GB of photos is a 5GB gallery. MP4, MOV and M4V are accepted, and a video can be as large as the gallery it goes in: up to 25GB on a single gallery, more on the Studio Pass.
